A brief statement to lead off: Schaffner Press is an independent publisher dedicated to bringing out books that deal with crucial issues of our times, whether in fiction or non-fiction, hardcover original or trade paperback. Our goal is to continue to publish works of lasting quality and significance that will serve to open up dialogues, discussions, introspection and yes, maybe even change. This is what I have always believed is the inherent power of the written word. And as an independent publisher, this is my mandate.
